Late afternoon in the Moyowosi.  Love that golden light.

Barb and Cap Horning welcome you to Cape Horn African Adventures . Whether this is your first or your twentieth safari, we have created this website to help people like ourselves (you) tailor and personalize the best, yet most cost efficient safari possible.

CHAA maintains a US based office in Wimberley, Texas except for that time of year when one or both of us are in Tanzania during the hunting season, joint-venturing our efforts with:

Con van Wyk Safaris, Ltd Tanzania and our good friend Con van Wyk as he begins his tenth year in Tanzania and a 2nd year hunting the LU3 block along the Luwegu River in the southwestern region of the famed Selous Game Reserve as well as the Irikishibor GCA in the southern highlands of Masailand.

Con van Wyk was brought up in the Gwaai Valley of Zimbabwe where he received a proper hiding from his father at age 9 for shooting a big male leopard with his .22! Con has hunted professionally since the late 70’s in Zimbabwe, South Africa and for the past 9 years, Tanzania. Con has put many hunters and their trophies high in the record books. In the course of duty he has survived two lion maulings, a hippo mauling and sleeping sickness. He has three daughters.

Also, Pen de Vries as he begins his sixth year hunting in Tanzania and second year with Nicolas Gazelle’s FOA Adventure Safaris Ltd.

Pen, a nearly 20 year veteran hunting in Africa and originally licensed in Zimbabwe, has been very impressed with the 3 concessions FOA owns and operates in the Rungwa Game Reserve…size-wise about 200,000 acres bordering the famed Ruaha National Park along the Njombe River for about 100km.  He has reported excellent buffalo and lion.  Please see “Gallery 2006” for some pre-season photos.

Based out of Wimberly, Texas south of Austin, CHAA assists its exclusive, Texas based clientele by providing a logistically seamless, personalized booking, hunting and safari service enhanced and backed-up through our relationships with Atcheson and Son's and Con van Wyk, Ltd. and their respective long-standing African operator and concessionaire contacts and relationships.

Myself a holder of a Tanzanian Professional Hunter's license, Barb and I have personally researched and hunted a variety of ecosystems in Tanzania from the Selous Game Reserve in the southeast to the Maasai Steppe (Masailand) in the north central highlands and then northeast to the Moyowosi. Because our services are not confined to any one area in Tanzania nor concession or operation, we have the freedom to book discerning hunters in to the best areas available for the trophies they desire.

Although we pride ourselves first and foremost as hunters, we also insist upon seeing that you are provided with comfortable East-African bush camps with most of the modern amenities as well as excellent bush cuisine and other camp services. Most professional hunting vehicles will be well equipped, many with in-vehicle refrigeration, GPS, HF and VHF radios and satellite phone.

Let us help you plan your hunt; set up hunt dates, airline reservations video services, import/export weapons permits, and ensure that government permits, licenses and visas are in order. After the hunt, we will bird-dog your trophies, ... dipping and packing, and freight forwarder follow-up ensuring that you get the best and most expedient treatment of your trophies from the bush to your taxidermist.

We promote fair-chase hunting only.

"On foot, the pulse of Africa comes through your boot. You are an animal among others, [wary] of the shadowed places, of sudden quiet in the air. "
